FreeTTS.ai ("we", "our", "the Service") is a free text-to-speech web application. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication method (Google sign-in or magic link). Account creation is optional.
• Text input: Text you submit for speech generation is sent to our servers for processing. For anonymous users, text is not permanently stored on our servers. For registered users, text and generated audio are saved to your generation history.

Payment Information

• If you purchase credits, payment is processed by our third-party payment provider (Dodo Payments). We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full billing details on our servers. We may receive and store your name, email, transaction ID, and purchase amount for record-keeping purposes.

Automatically Collected Information

• Usage analytics: We log each generation with metadata including voice selected, text length, text category, country (derived from request headers), referrer source, and browser language. This data is used to improve the service and is not sold to third parties.
• Device and browser data: Standard web server logs may include IP address, browser type, and operating system. These are used for security monitoring and are not linked to user profiles.

Local Browser Storage

For all users, we store data locally in your browser:

• localStorage: Daily usage count, generation history metadata, favorite voices, preferences, and theme setting.
• IndexedDB: Cached audio files from your recent generations (automatically deleted after 7 days).

This local data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly sign in and your history is synced to our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the Service: Processing your text into speech, maintaining your generation history, and personalizing your experience (favorites, recent voices).
• To improve the Service: Aggregated, anonymous analytics help us understand which voices, languages, and features are most used.
• To enforce usage limits: Daily generation limits are tracked to ensure fair use of the free service.
• To process payments: If you purchase credits, we use Dodo Payments to securely process your transaction and maintain purchase records.
• To display advertising: We use Google AdSense to display ads that help fund the free service. AdSense may use cookies and identifiers to serve relevant ads. See Section 7 for details.
• To communicate with you: If you have a registered account, we may send you essential service notifications (such as security alerts or account changes) as well as occasional product updates, new feature announcements, and news about FreeTTS.ai. You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

3. How We Process Your Text

When you submit text for generation:

1. Your text may be preprocessed by an AI language model to optimize it for speech (punctuation, abbreviation expansion, pacing). This preprocessing happens on our servers and the text is not stored by the AI providers beyond the immediate request.
2. The processed text is sent to Microsoft's Edge-TTS service for audio generation.
3. For anonymous users, the generated audio is streamed directly to your browser and not stored on our servers.
4. For registered users, the audio file is stored in your private account storage.

We do not use your text input to train AI models.

4. Data Storage and Security

• Server infrastructure: Our servers are self-hosted and located in the United States.
• Database: User accounts and generation history are stored in a PostgreSQL database with row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data.
• Audio storage: Registered users' audio files are stored in private cloud storage with time-limited signed URLs for access.
• Encryption: Sensitive configuration data (API keys) is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. All connections to FreeTTS.ai use HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit.
• Payment data: All payment processing is handled by Dodo Payments's PCI-compliant infrastructure. Payment card details never touch our servers.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:

• Service providers: Text is processed through Microsoft Edge-TTS to generate audio. Optional AI preprocessing uses third-party language model providers (Groq, Google AI, Mistral, or OpenRouter) solely for text optimization. These providers process data per their own privacy policies and do not retain your data beyond the immediate request.
• Email communications: If you have a registered account, your email address may be shared with our third-party email service provider solely for the purpose of sending the service and product communications described in Section 2. This provider does not receive your generation history or any other personal data, and processes your email address per their own privacy policy.
• Authentication: If you sign in with Google, Google's authentication service receives standard OAuth data per Google's privacy policy.
• Payment processing: If you purchase credits, Dodo Payments processes your payment information per their privacy policy. We receive only transaction confirmations and do not have access to your full payment details.
• Analytics providers: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity receive anonymous usage and interaction data as described in Section 7. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
• Advertising: Google AdSense may collect and process data for ad delivery as described in Section 7. We do not provide AdSense with your account information or generation history.
• Affiliate partners: If you click an affiliate link (e.g., to ElevenLabs), the destination site may receive referral information indicating you came from FreeTTS.ai. We do not share your personal data with affiliate partners.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

6. Your Choices and Rights

• Use without an account: You can use FreeTTS.ai without creating an account. Your data stays in your browser only.
• Delete your account: Contact us to request account deletion. We will remove your profile, generation history, and stored audio files.
• Clear local data: You can clear your browser's localStorage and IndexedDB at any time through your browser settings.
• Export your data: Registered users can access their generation history and download audio files through the application.
• Unsubscribe: You can opt out of product and marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Essential Cookies

FreeTTS.ai uses essential cookies for authentication session management (Supabase auth tokens). Your theme preference and other settings are stored in localStorage, not cookies.

Analytics

We use the following analytics services to understand how visitors use the Service and to improve performance:

• Google Analytics (GA4): Collects anonymous usage data including pages visited, session duration, device type, and geographic region. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique users. Data is processed by Google per their privacy policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
• Microsoft Clarity: Records anonymous session replays and heatmaps to help us understand how users interact with the interface. Clarity may collect click patterns, scroll depth, and page navigation data. Data is processed by Microsoft per their privacy statement. Clarity does not collect personal information from form fields.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements that help keep the Service free. AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to FreeTTS.ai and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by their advertising privacy policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings or www.aboutads.info.

Affiliate Links

FreeTTS.ai contains affiliate links to third-party services, including ElevenLabs. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. These affiliate partners may use cookies to attribute referrals. We only recommend services we believe provide genuine value to our users.

8. Children's Privacy

FreeTTS.ai is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
